Silent Night

Keep the children silent.
Don’t disrupt the football team.
Don’t taint the iconic coach.
Don’t threaten the endowment fund.
Men and power have spoken.

Keep the women silent.
Don’t bother the presidential candidate with accusations.
Don’t speak of his possible sexual misconduct.
“…better think twice” before speaking out.
Men and power have spoken.

Keep the people silent.
The ones with no jobs.
The ones with no hope.
Don’t endanger escalating corporate profits.
Men and power have spoken.

Keep the seniors silent.
Keep the working poor silent.
Keep the homeless silent.
Keep the working class silent.
(Eviscerate the middle class…too hard to keep them silent.)
Keep the whistleblowers silent.
Keep the damned liberals silent.
Men and power have spoken.

Foment hatred.
Foment fear.
Foment racism.
Foment sexism.
Foment “other-ism.”

Take a nascent group of angry, fearful people.
Whip their anger and fear into a frenzy.
About a black man being president.
About change being dangerous.
About the disappearing white (read moral) America .

Fund this group well.
Reach into the corporate coffers.
Buy the Supreme Court.
(Use the one purchased in 2000 in a bloodless coup.)
Obtain a decision deeming corporations to be people.

Use corporate “personhood” to buy more elections.
Spread venom and lies.
Exponentially grow the nascent group.
Silence all other voices.
Men and power have spoken.

God Bless America.  Patriotism

About armsakimbobook

My book, Arms Akimbo: A Journey of Healing, tells of my journey of healing over a number of years, learning to live a full life after I was molested by my father at a very young age. I live in Maynard, MA, with my wife and and our two moose-cats, Samson and Hercules. My daughter used to live with me part-time, but she's all grown up now and in her junior year of college, which I can't quite fathom, since she was born about five minutes ago...
